Krishnan Natarajan [Rampur-Sahaswan Gharana]
Krishnan Natarajan, a young vocalist from Delhi represents Rampur-Sahaswan Gharana, which is acknowledged as one of the foremost schools for the enrichment of Indian classical music.
Born in a musical family, from a very young age, Krishnan was groomed in Karnatic classical violin by his father Shri.G. Natarajan and by Smt. Geetha(Mumbai) in Karnatic classical vocal.
On coming to Delhi, he was influenced by Ustad R.Haryson--- of the Rampur -Sahaswan Gharana who has groomed him in true Guru-Shishya Parampara in Hindustani classical vocal. He has also continued learning Karnatic vocal under the eminent Radio artiste Subashri Murthy.
Krishnan has given several performances in Hindustani and Karnatic vocal.His khayal singing has been praised for its traditional and systematic elaboration of the Raga and expression of deep emotional content. His bhajans have acquired a soul- stirring quality. A fervent Krishna Bhakth -- he loves singing Meera as alsoKabir Bhajans.
On the spiritual side,Krishnan has been deeply associated with various spiritual organization. He has been associated with the spiritual organization Chinmaya Mission since childhood. "Balvihar" of Chinmaya Mission has played an important role in nurturing his singing. One of his fond experiences has been attending a summer camp at the Mumbai Ashram of Chinmaya Mission (at the age of six) where he was adjudged the best camp singer.His deep bent towards spirituality has also led him to spend 18 months at the Sandeepany Sadhanalaya of Chinmaya mission studying Vedanta and the scriptures at the feet of the Gurus of the Mission. In 2001, he composed, directed and released a Bhajan album for Chinmaya Mission -Delhi titled "Himavat Vibhuti"--bhajans on the various pilgrimage sites of the Himalayas.
On the Academic side, Krishnan is an Engineer and an MBA from the prestigious Indian Institute of Management, IIM-Kozhikode.(the first batch -1999). He heads the English Department of Career Launcher. "I have received a great amount of encouragement from my batch mates and C Lites for following my passion"
