Rajendra Teredesai [Bansuri Maestro]
Pandit Rajendra Teredesai is one of the foremost ganda-bandh disciples of the bansuri maestro Padmavibhushan Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia, and a bansuri virtuoso in his own right.
He began his musical journey at the age of 12 and was initiated as his ganda bandh disciple in 1981, acquiring vigorous grooming in the traditional guru-shishya parampara. He belongs to the grand musical heritage of the Senia Maihar Gharana.
He has also received valuable guidance in the dhrupad tradition of music under Ustad Sayeeduddin Dagar.
Highly accomplished academically, Rajendra is a graduate mechanical engineer, who has attended the MBA program in Sales & Marketing Management. He possesses a Post Graduate Diploma in International Business, besides a Diploma in
Export Management. He has also pursued an advanced course in Information Technology from California, U.S.A.
Rajendra Teredesai beautifully blends and integrates the most significant aesthetic and technical aspects of the gayaki and gatkaari ang of Indian classical instrumental music, combining it with a rich, sonorously soothing tone and immaculate blowing technique, displaying an amazing virtuosity, vivid with creative imagination in terms of elaboration, layakaari and improvisational technique and design, in his bansuri playing.
The style of his flute playing encompasses the range of genres covering the dhrupad, khayal, thumri and natya sangeet, that are fluidly integrated and assimilated into a style that is at once traditional and innovatively progressive in approach and presentation.
He is a graded radio artiste and has performed extensively in major music
festivals, sangeet mahotsavs and sammelans in India and abroad, including Swami Haridas Sangeet Sammelan, Kesarbai Keskar Sangeet Mahotsav, the Goa Kala Academy, Swar Bhaskar Sangeet Mahotsav, Swar Sagar Sangeet Mahotsav, Kalashree Sangeet Mahotsav, Malhar Music Festival, Chaturang, Music Festival, Ashta Vinayak Sangeet Samaroh etc.
Rajendra Teredesai has toured extensively to several countries and continents including Europe, U.S.A., Canada, Middle East & South East Asia. He has collaborated with leading international musicians and has played jugalbandis and world music concerts with the santoor, sitar, violin, mandolin, guitar, jaltarang and ghatam, to appreciative audiences worldwide.
He has several music albums released both, in India and internationally, among them are :
