Arup Ratan Mukherjee (Sitar)
Born in the ancient city of Pataliputra. Arup’s talent in sitar blossomed initially under the tutelage of his mother Smt. Nilakshi Mukharjee and later from Late Arun Kumar Chatterjee.
In August 1986, he was fortunate to be the disciple of Pandit Jotin
Bhattacharya who himself is a disciple of Baba Allauddin Khan Saheeb of
Maihar and has dedicated his life in performing and teaching very few
students in the purest tradition. of Indian Classical Music under his
blessing.Arup started his training in earnest by learning the basics of Sitar playing. Over the years of single minded Sadhana, he proved himself to be a talented artist to the sublime music of Maihar Gharana that perpetuates the sacred tradition of Mian Tansen.

He is one of the founder trustee of Baba Alluddin Khan Music Foundation
(Regd) Delhi. This promotes Indian Classical Music and upcoming artists
through monthly Baithaks and major concerts.
1. He has composed music for documentry on Sufism “ Mastkalander”
directed by Sri Rajeev Srivastava for Ministry Of External Affairs.
2. Department of Post had released a first day cover featuring Arup.
3. He has been awarded Naad Sadhak from Sangeet Kala Kendra Agra.
