Shreelina Ghosh [Odissi Exponent]

Shreelina Ghosh was initiated into Odissi Dance by Guru Giridhari Nayak. She blossomed into a mature dancer under the strict supervision and loving care of Smt. Aloka Kanungo. She has been honing this ancient dance-form for the last 23 years and is now a solo performer and teacher of Odissi dance.

Shreelina has performed solo and with her Guru at most major festivals and cultural events in India. Some of the major ones are Khajuraho Dance Festival, Jayadeva Jayanti Utsav, Puri Beach Festival; Uday Shankar Dance Festival, Calcutta; National Festival Of New Choreographies, New Delhi; Utkal Divas Utsav, Sambhalpur; Shankar Dev Festival, Guwahati; Surya Festival, Kerala; Thalam; Swaralaya Nrityotsav, Kerala; Kolkata Dooradarshan Utsav to name a few. Shreelina has featured a number of times on television for Dooradarshan Kendra Calcutta, E-TV Bangla and Tara. She has performed solo at the Mahabodhi Society of India at Bodh Gaya. Her solo performances all over eastern India has been appreciated by eminent dance critics of The Statesman, The Telegraph, Ganashakti, Bartaman, Hindustan Times and many other news papers and magazines.

She received "Star of Tomorrow Award 2002" from West Bengal Dance Group Federation and other recognitions at a competitive level from West Bengal State Music Academy, West Bengal Music Circle among other State-level awards.

Shreelina has obtained Sangeet Visharad Diploma (first division) in Odissi from Pracheen Kala Kendra, Chandigarh. She has a flair for music and has obtained Sangeet Visharad Degree (first division) in Rabindra Sangeet from Pracheen Kala Kendra, Chandigarh. She has learned the nuances of Odissi Classical Music from the eminent Guru Gopal Chandra Panda. She taught classes at Shinjan Nrityalay and Children's little Theatre (CLT), and assists her Guru in choreography, direction and project organization.

An English (Honors) graduate from Presidency College Calcutta, she has obtained a Master's Degree in English from University of Calcutta. She worked as a web designer and copywriter in Calcutta before shifting to USA for her academic pursuits.

Shreelina is currently pursuing doctoral studies in Rhetoric and Writing in Michigan State University. She is also an executive board member of the International Students Organization of MSU
