Prakriti Bhaskar [Bharatnatyam Exponent]
Amongst the younger generation of dancers, Prakriti combines in her pursuit of the art, a rare blend of an elegant performer, meticulous teacher, imaginative choreographer, accomplished nattuvanar [the art of playing cymbals] and a prolific writer.
Prakriti holds a Masters Degree in Fine-arts and is a National scholar. Her passion and flair for rhythm was honed by her guru Kalaimamani Talavidwan Shri T.S. Kadhirvelu Pillai, a mathematical genius and rhythm wizard. Prakriti trained under him for 14 years to specialize in rhythmic choreography and nattuvangam. Padmashree Guru Adyar K.Lakshman, an internationally acclaimed teacher and choreographer, enriched her dance with wholeness in approach. Her meticulous training under both these stalwarts helped her evolve into a mature artiste with a highly creative mind and sensitivity.
Brilliant technique, coupled with a dignified stage presence and natural grace are the hallmark of her dance, while aesthetic taste and penchant for perfection lend an ethereal quality to her choreographic work. Her workshops and insights on 'the aesthetics and mathematics of rhythm' have been widely appreciated and she has been invited by prestigious institutes across the country to share her works with serious students of dance. Passionately canvassing the cause of 'art-awareness in the metropolis', she writes extensively on issues relating to art in the present scenario, and has numerous thought-provoking article to her credit.
Carrying forth her guru's legacy, she has been zealously training students for over a decade at her institute, hoping to create a next generation of committed artistes.
